Work Effectively in Children’s Education and Care

CHCECE056 Work Effectively in children’s education and care

Successful completion of this unit supports the achievement of individual performance goals. It requires the use of effective communication skills and a sound understanding of role responsibilities, policies, and service procedures within a children’s education and care setting to carry out daily duties confidently and effectively.

CHCECE056 is an accredited unit of competency delivered through a flexible online learning model, designed to support learners working in, or entering, children’s education and care settings.

Students will have access to online learning resources 24/7, allowing them to study at a time that suits their individual schedules. Learning is supported through monthly trainer-led virtual classroom sessions delivered via Zoom, where students can engage with unit content, ask questions, and participate in guided learning activities.

Learners will also receive monthly electronic contact with a dedicated trainer via Zoom, phone, or email to support progress throughout the unit. One-on-one trainer support is available if required, along with group catch-up sessions via Zoom to reinforce learning and maintain peer connection.

This unit is delivered over a three-month period. To be deemed competent, students are required to complete all assessments in line with the unit requirements. Upon successful completion, students will be issued a Statement of Attainment (SoA) for CHCECE056.

The Training and Assessment for this course is delivered by Industry Graduates under a registered third-party agreement. iTFE is the issuing RTO for this course.

CHCECE056 – Work Effectively in Children’s Education and Care

As part of CHCECE056, students are required to complete practical placement in an early childhood education setting to apply the skills and knowledge gained in the unit. The placement hours are designed to provide hands-on experience and may be scheduled to fit the learning and assessment requirements of this unit.

The placement structure includes four consecutive days of work placement, allowing students to complete the required assessment tasks for CHCECE056 progressively. This gives students the opportunity to gain practical experience and apply their learning in a real early childhood environment.

The RTO is responsible for arranging and approving the placement, ensuring students are matched with suitable services. The RTO will also conduct site visits during the placement to monitor progress, provide guidance, and ensure the learning experience meets the unit requirements.

Students’ performance during the placement will be assessed through a combination of workplace supervisor reports and face-to-face assessments with their trainer, providing clear feedback and support to ensure competency is achieved.

This placement gives students the opportunity to apply their knowledge, develop practical skills, and gain real-world experience, while being supported and assessed by both the workplace and the RTO.

This course is designed for aspiring educators who want to gain practical experience and build workplace skills in an early childhood education and care setting. It is ideal for individuals who are new to the sector or looking to explore a career in childcare, providing opportunities for workplace trials, hands-on learning, and exposure to real service practices.
